We believe the best team consists of the child, the parent and the teacher working together. As such, we welcome parents or prospective parents to visit Red Rose. We can arrange for you to visit the school at a convenient time.
We understand that communication with our parents is important. We aim to work together by :
- providing a personal Home/School Diary for some pupils. This helps the day-to-day flow of information between school and parents. For older students the diary mostly communicates homework or reading tasks.
- Contacting parents by email or phone to provide updates on their child’s welfare, progress or behaviour.
- We ask that parents inform us of any difficulties or anxieties affecting their child, so that we may provide sensitive support in school.
Progress: a detailed Annual Report is compiled and sent to parents or carers at the end of the summer term.
in addition, an Annual review is held for each pupil. It follows the process of the review for Education, Health and Care Plans (EHC Plans). The review meeting is scheduled at a mutually convenient time for parents or carers to discuss the progress of their child with key staff and professionals who may be involved in their child’s care. The review can take place online or face-to-face in school. Before the review, the parent or carer receives a school ‘advice’ that reports in detail on their child’s progress towards his or her targets or outcomes. Parent or carer’s views are also requested. Following the review, a Summary of the review discussion is compiled and sent to parents or carers. It is also sent to the child’s Local Authority SEND team and professionals (as appropriate).
Further discussion of progress can be arranged at a mutually convenient time during the school year.
In addition to the information on the website, our school newsletters are a visual and colourful insight into the events and activities of school life.
Due to the varied locations of our school families, and the SEND needs within our school, whole-school events are limited. Our Christmas Lunch and End-of-term Award event takes place at our nearby Toby Carvery, who kindly arrange a special dining area for us. The Christmas Production ends our calendar year; we have been privileged to have this hosted for us by the Well Church. Our end-of-year Farewell takes place on the last day of the school year and is an enjoyable occasion paying tribute to students leaving us to start their next learning journey at college or with other providers.
At Red Rose we are privileged to have a very supportive team of parents, and we are grateful for their continuing support.
